Bajaj Dominar 400 Review: Bangladesh Long-Term Ownership
The Bajaj Dominar 400 is the most capable tourer available in Bangladesh under BDT 4.5 lakh. With its 373cc liquid-cooled engine delivering 40 bhp, 13-litre fuel tank, and comfortable upright touring position, it promises to devour Bangladesh's highways. After extensive real-world use across multiple long-distance routes in Bangladesh, here is our verdict.
Performance on Bangladesh's Highways
The Dominar 400's 373cc DOHC engine is a torque-rich unit that makes light work of highway riding. Sustained 100-110 kmph cruising is effortless. The triple-spark ignition technology and fuel injection deliver smooth, linear power across the rev range. Overtaking at highway speeds is confident and safe. The 13-litre tank gives an impressive 500+ km range per fill at highway speeds (35-40 kmpl).
Comfort on Long Rides
The Dominar 400's touring-focused ergonomics — slightly forward-leaning but not aggressive, wide handlebars, long comfortable seat — are well-suited for Bangladesh's long intercity routes. A 4-5 hour stint from Dhaka to Cox's Bazar is comfortable. The seat padding is adequate but a gel pad helps on very long days. The pillion seat is among the most comfortable in this segment.
Handling and Build
KTM Duke 390-derived trellis frame, USD front forks, and mono-shock rear make the Dominar 400 handle significantly better than its touring weight suggests. It is stable at speed and agile enough in city conditions. Ground clearance at 167mm is adequate for most Bangladesh roads.
Build Quality and Reliability
After extensive use in Bangladesh's conditions — monsoon rains, rough roads, city heat — the Dominar 400 has proven reliable. Common owner-reported issues in Bangladesh: occasional vibration at specific highway speeds (addressable with bar-end weights), the stock seat becoming uncomfortable beyond 200 km, and the headlight, while LED, having a limited spread for night riding on unlit roads.
Price in Bangladesh 2026
Bajaj Dominar 400: BDT 3,80,000-4,30,000.
Verdict
The Bajaj Dominar 400 is Bangladesh's best sub-4.5 lakh long-distance touring motorcycle. If your riding involves regular intercity travel, weekend highway tours, and you want real performance and a large fuel tank, the Dominar 400 is the correct choice. Rating: 8/10.
